Hi! I’m Mary Trego, a wife, mom, grandma, educator and parent coach. I have an education degree and taught several years before becoming a full-time “at-home” parent. My husband and I have 5 grown children-3 daughters and 2 sons- including a son adopted from Guatemala, and 2 cute, smart grandchildren!
My husband made a mid-life career change, which moved us from Kansas to Athens, Greece in 2000. This was a huge life change for the children; they were entering grades 5, 7, 9, 11, and the oldest in college. Living overseas had its challenges, but also changed us in many positive ways. Since that first move, work assignments took us to Mexico, Ethiopia, South Africa, Washington DC, and Italy. After my husband’s retirement, we moved to beautiful western Montana.
I know from experience that raising future adults is rewarding and fun, but can also be really hard! Because parenting can at times be very isolating, I found great benefit in joining other moms for friendship and encouragement. I hosted “mom groups,” in my church and in my home when living abroad for more than 20 years, helping women to draw strength and support from each other.
I decided to pursue a new career as a Parent Coach as a way to inspire and encourage today’s parents. I completed the graduate level course with the Parent Coach Institute (https://thepci.org). This certification prepared me to coach parents in a positive and professional way. I am passionate about guiding parents not just to survive, but to thrive with joy and satisfaction in their all-important role of raising the next generation. Through coaching they can experience more calm and connection with their children. My goal is to help parents move toward more competence, confidence and courage in their parenting adventure.
"The parent coaching made me trust myself more as a parent. During one session, I realized that having a good relationship with my child is what will inform me as to my "gut instincts" regarding a specific child. Mary's calm and positive manner put me at ease. She can really be supportive, which is a huge strength." JANE
"I feel like Mrs. Mary did a wonderful job coaching because it took both our minds and she also made me feel less stress because we were able to find better way to deal with life and kids. I would recommend parent coaching because it is always a good thing to have a helping hand and mind in the parenting world. " JENN
